About us

From a lockdown delivery kitchen
to a rooftop restaurant by the river

Our story

A little idea, a lot of fish & chips

When Hội An went into lockdown in 2020, the Market Bar team started making fish and chips at home and delivering them to hungry locals and expats missing a taste of home. What began as a way to keep people fed soon became a local hit.

When life returned to normal, we moved our fryers to the rooftop terrace right across from Market Bar. We named it Ms. Phuong's Fish & Chips after our beloved friend Ms. Phuong, whose encouragement helped bring the idea to life. Today, we're still serving proper British-style pub grub with a view of Old Town.

Our approach

Locally sourced, properly served

We believe great food starts with great ingredients, sourced as close to home as possible. Our wild-caught Mahi Mahi comes from the waters of Quảng Ngãi, delivered straight from boat to kitchen, where our team prepares it fresh. We also serve farmed sea bass, Spanish mackerel and yellowtail kingfish, all available locally in Vietnam.

From hand-cut fish to locally sourced, hand-cut potatoes, every detail matters. Our beer batter is made with Vietnamese-brewed lager, and even our lemon aioli is prepared in-house.

Why do we do it this way?

Because we're proud to work with Vietnam's local produce to create food worth coming back for. By sourcing locally and choosing our ingredients thoughtfully, we aim to support local producers, reduce unnecessary transport and make more responsible choices for the environment, without compromising on flavour.

More than just fish!
